This beautiful folio holds a tryptich of Utagawa Hiroshige's "Awa Naruto no Fuukei" (1857) ("The Whirlpools of Awa") landscape woodblock print in its original tryptich form. The indgio blue, cloth-bound, folio is in very fine condition with the prints being nearly mint. This version was produced by Yuyudo Publishing, Tokyo (publishing date not listed).
"Late in his career, Hiroshige explored the poetic theme of setsugekka, “snow, moon, and flowers,” in a set of three triptychs. The swirling whirlpools at Awa would remind the viewer of flowers." - https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1930.183
